My daughter is also a pure heart who has walked out of movie theaters and closed books to avoid the type of empathy pains described in Octavia Butler books. I would have loved a list like this when she was younger. She’s 18 and still has boundaries around the content she consumes. She could use a list of gentle books and media at this age too.
We've not been able to read the Little House books with my youngest which makes me sad. But the first chapter had her in hysterics. No Charlotte's Web either. :(
Ah, that’s so hard. I bet the day will come when she will read and even like those books. Have you tried fantasy? I found with my kids that feeling like a story was less real made it easier to handle. People crashing through woods in terror was scary, but Frog and Toad doing it was hilarious. Maybe My Father’s Dragon is unreal enough and silly enough for your sweet child.

What a great suggestion. Thank you!
Wow this is so helpful!! I have sensitive children who struggle to watch any movie so having a go to list is so helpful! Saving this 👍🏻
I hope you find some great options.
